Question on taking an enemy world

There's a plant I'm thinking of taking. Unlike the three I've taken before, this guy is an active player (of about my level) and a member of an active legion of people mostly my level (with some higher who could pretty easily wipe the floor with my ship).

So the sum of it is - if I take the world, I will get alerted. I'm ok with retaliation because it's part of the game. But, I have two questions:

1) If I flux the world immediately after taking it, can the prior owner Alert the world to his legion - can I lose the world in retaliation if I flux it right away?

2) How long would I have to hunker down before the alerts on me expired - can I be forever re-alerted (original guy alerts, another person in the legion alerts based off that alert, the original guy alerts again in 12 hours, etc...)? I know if I attack, that I can be re-alerted - does a trap count as an attack?

If you take a world you can be alerted, at least I'm pretty sure you can be. However if you flux the world right away before the owner has a chance to alert it then no there is no chance of it getting taken back. However if he is online and alerts it before you have a chance to use the flux than there is, and you would have to wait the 12 hours of alert time before it goes off their scans. So in other words to answer you other question of can they keep alerting, no is the answer if you have fluxed it. Unless one of them happens to take it with in that time then that player can again because that player would be able to see it since he took it after it was fluxed.

Ok, so I just have to deal with the retaliation. Any idea on my second question then - can you be serial alerted (the original planet owner alerts my ship... as the 12 hours nearly ends, one of the people who was alerted to the ship, alerts the ship, or the original owner waits the 12 hous, and then re-alerts the ship, indefinitely)

And if not... how long do you have to wait before the alerts all expire?

I did answer this as well sorry if it wasn't very clear.

I'm talking about my ship now, not the world itself. I thought that line was talking about the world.

The answer is no. You will be hit repeatedly for 48 hrs, but provided you do not disable back, hack back, or use any artifacts on any of them you will drop off after this time. They can however hunt you or you legion on the battle tab, and they also could hack a few of your planet locations from you before you drop... depending on how aggresive you are before and after the taken over.

ah my bad mis read the question. No traps do not count if you try to alert someone you can't you get this message.

You can only send an alert against players who have disabled, hacked, raided, invaded, or used an artifact on you in the last 24 hours.

So as long as you don't do those things you are fine.

Well, I took it.

Not going to shoot back. Just going to hunker down and cover.

The guy was online, I got lucky - he posted to my comm. "arg nooo was wondering how long i could leave my planets undefended"

Seems like a reasonable response really. No swearing or screaming.

I responded on my own Comm. I hope he reads it. "Sorry man it was too nice a planet to pass up. Add defense! Its doubled by your legion."

(Very Massive, Rich Research Gas with zero attack or defense. Sweet score for a Level 56).

your talking about alert sharing....thats out. You can be hit for 48 hours if you dont strike back at all. With action limits planet stealing is worth the 2 days of beating you will take.

Thank you.

Actually, the guy I took it from was very nice about it. Said he didn't blame me, and that he was now adding defense to all his worlds. He hasn't alerted on me so far either. I've been waiting for a dozen level 100+ ships to warp into my little chunk of the universe, but it hasn't happened.

If I see any of his other worlds, I'll let him be.

i reckon the best way to avoid retaliation is, planet flux, you mentionaed that, and get like 3 calming amplifiers and use them so they cant attack you, be sure to up your cloak to must and spend reserach points immediately so they cant hack you.

Calming Amps don't mean diddley-squat as long as they can be removed by a containment missile.
