No, you can't have more than one ship.
If you're wondering why people have different-looking ships to yours, it's because of the race that they chose to play as; each race has a different-looking ship.
If you're asking because you think your ship isn't very powerful though, your ship is actually upgradable, which is what makes Galaxy Legion different to other games. As you gain in rank, you gain 'rank points'; these can be spent on improving your ship, for instance, you could make it bigger, which allows you to install more ship modules. Ship modules, such as weapons, hull platings, and shields make your ship stronger, whilst power cores, sensors, and jammers improve your abilities.
You can also research technology, which will grant you access to new ship modules. New ship modules are larger, so you need a bigger ship to install them, but they are also more space efficient, so you get a bigger increase in stats than if you filled the same amount of space with smaller modules.
As an example, the very first weapon is an Autocannon, which gives you 1 attack for 3 deckspace. But the next weapon, the Heavy Autocannon, gives you 2 attack for 4 deckpace. So you get the same amount of attack from it as though you had installed two Autocannons, but you save two deckspace from it (Since two Autocannons would take 6 decks, not 4). Later weapons are considerably larger, but become MUCH more space efficient. Same goes for all the other modules you can install on your ship, like shields and hull platings.
You can equip modules on your ship via the Ship tab, then click on the Weapons, Shields, Hull, etc sections to view that individual area.
You might also find the
Galaxy Legion Wiki useful if you're looking for information on the game.
