Add more decks. That will upgrade your ship automatically.

everytime you level you are issued 5 rank points but dont be in such a hurry to get a huge ship assign some to helms and science each time a huge ship with no crew is a weak ship

More than one playstyle, and honestly artifacts take care of the crew. If you dont put into decks, you gimp your ships adaptability. More decks = more modules = stronger.
Only reason to have crew at all is to raid ships. IMO

There is a difference between 'decks' and 'cargo'.
Decks are where your active ship devices go, like power cores and weapons.
Cargo is where your minerals, artifacts, and ship devices that you have 'uninstalled' go. The more cargo you have, the more swap space you have available for reconfiguring your ship without having to re-buy components.

No you are not stuck with a frigate. When you reach a certain ship size it automatically updates the name. The name means nothing. It just gives other players the possible size of your ship. As you add decks your ship increases in size and when you reach a certain size you get a different ship class. And as you get more decks you can i9nstall more and better modules. I hope this cleared things up.
PS Sorry for breaking my "Leaving" thing again but its hard to keep it when seeing so many new players needing help on the BH.

Only reason to have crew at all is to raid ships. IMO engineers add energy without taking space since energy is everything how is this a gimp ?

vladd13 wrote: engineers add energy without taking space since energy is everything how is this a gimp ? From Engineers vs. Reactors/CoresMany players feel that this is a much more productive way to increase your energy reserves then placing your rank points into Engineer's because this can be upgraded and removed at will. Engineer's are permanent and a permanent use of rank points that would be better spent in decks or cargo. To further illustrate this point, 1 Rank Point is equal to 2 Energy points, if placed into an Engineer. At the early levels, this can look very nice (after all, a basic fusion reactor has a 1 deck to 1 energy ratio), but at the higher levels, this becomes completely overshadowed by the larger reactors. Using the Singularity Core - Mk. IV example above, 1 Singularity Core - Mk. IV takes up 29 deck slots, but gives 123 energy. This is a ratio of 1 Rank Point to 4.2 energy points. By this logic, while useful at the early levels, an engineer rapidly becomes dated as the tech increases (Generally dated by the Graviton Core Mk. IV, although an argument can still be made for the engineers at this point), making them less useful.

the person asking the ? is at the lower level at this point , I myself have stopped adding engineers but didn't do so until after I had the mk4 fusion reactor or around level 20 or so I cant rightly remember I just know at the beginning the 1 point per 2 energy was a better bargain and left more room for other equip on my lil ship
