From reading the forums I have gathered that researching is extremely important, Yet the speed I accrue research points seems extremely slow. I currently produce 28 RP/Hour is this reasonable? If not what can I do to increase this?

Thanks for the advice, I think it seems I need larger/better planets, I have a research very abundent planet with all research facilities but it's size is small, my other planet is very small with no research, I guess therein is the source of my problem. The only issue with finding planets is my sensors i'm down to 18% success, have I just been unlucky in this respect, or should I be doing something differantly?

I'm lvl 5 so two planets is my maximum.

yes it will start out slow just try to maximize the planets resourse do set up reserch on a planet that is research spars an so on.... reserch scaning to locate more planets. its slow to start but it will pick up. however it is slow to start the amount needed to teck at the begining is low as well. so it scales pretty good. but startingout all you can do is lv up and wait because you can only have so many planets per lv.

You can colonise a new planet every four levels, so you can colonise a third planet at level 8. Even though you're at a low rank at the moment, try to concentrate on having as many scanners installed when you scan planets. Uninstall your weapons, shields, hull, and defences to make more room. You can always re-add them later once you've finished with your scanners. Concentrate on only colonising Research planets. You'll want Artifacts and need Mining later on the game too, but early on they're relatively unimportant.

And if you think it's not working fast enough, you could just reset and hope for better planets the second time around.

To get a jump start you can join a friendly legion. When you are ready to colonize your next planet request a research one on the legion com. I have shared massive extremely abundant gas planets with my legion.

As a beginner it's very hard to know which legion too join and many that accept players at my lvl generally seemed to be made up of players of low lvl's with one high lvl leader I suspect those are the type that are worth avoiding. That said I am a member of a Legion it's very small, six people, but they seem friendly, though it remains to be seen if they have the resources to be able to help me in my planetary search.

A completely fair and valid comment on our progress in the few days since Legion formation and thanks again to you for joining!

Shared another new planet with the Legion and gave instructions that you might consider this planet an asset over your existing selection for a new Scan with your early initial scan stregth.

I fully accept and concede that the Loc Nar Seekers will never be able to serve the long-term needs of any advanced gamer, and admit at best case we might someday be appreciated for being an incubator for the game to grow and at worst case a constant source of scorn and disbanded.

My esteemed peers will gladly point out we will only remain a beneficial Legion to sub-50 Ranked players and more specifically to new rookie pilots seeking to avoid early mistakes such as yourself.

Our Rank Gap will always be a weakness as will our stated objectives of helping versus harming new players, and avoiding PvP aggression.

My ship being the Flagship and my Rank being sub-100 exposes the entire fleet to the attacks of a large population of more advanced and predatory players.

I could easily continue to tick off our Legion weaknesses, but I knew what I signed for when I chose to try and help grow the game by trying to help grow the gamers.

I am actively engaged in peaceful approaches to many of the game's most notorious warlords and gameshapers, at measurable personal risk and as an emissary of peace on your behalf.

My intention is to always give them the respect they deserve, seek and glean their advice for rookies (or heed their warnings) and pass any teachings down on what weaknesses these infamous players exploit, why that strategy works for their tactics and what if anything can be done to address the reality of their presence.

You have already discovered the Loc Nar Seekers greatest weakness, and the one which our enemies will hopefully become fully aware of and find less than sporting to exploit:

We are peaceful and benevolent supporters of the earliest game members getting an initial start and solid footing before teaching them painful new chapters in the Art of War.

You were given excellent advice from other Forum members who are members of Legions with offensive PvP tactics and I encourage you to continue to seek their advice and someday their membership if your goals are similar.

Thanks again for posting!

Ulric, please keep the legion advertisements to the legion section. We dont want everyone with a legion spamming "join us!" messages.

Respect and thank you for guidance on Forum etiquette, which is appreciated!

A new member of my Legion formed the thread originally and my reply turned into pontification, for which I apologize.

No hijacking or spamming of the thread was ever intended - as was no offense!

Dude I have 10 planets only 1 is a large ,it'll be ok starts a lil slow at first , I would suggest researching energy first since almost every thing you will do requires energy points and for the first 20 levels or so try not to attack someone just play thru missions as best you can when you level up add space to your ship and more power .
after level 15 or so I would alternate techs researched like energy then shields energy then armor so forth and so on rinse and repeat also after level 20 I would alternate between adding space and adding crew since engineers produce power but take no space and and scientists help with research you get the idea I hope .

I myself had to colonize three tiny and two small planets from the beginning.

As for Legion resources, when equipped I Scan +282 - still finding mostly small and tiny, enemy-occupied planets for the first few scans.

Every time I upgrade my Scan technology tier and have new technology I equip Scan modules and repeatedly Scan until dropping my % success to find a new planet down from the high 80's to single-digits, or until I run out of energy.

Afterwards I un-equip all Scan modules and equip maximum Attack modules.

Naturally I still take the choicest of planets found for my own colonization efforts.

Resource optimization is a cornerstone to the game and thanks for posting and for all replies!

Yes, ty all for the replies using the advice in this thread I have managed to triple my RP/hour. I guess it starts out similarly slow for everone, but I shall keep at it as i'm finding the game to be very enjoyable.
