Quick question to those that have made the mistake I made: in my zeal to expand my planet base to get more resources, I colonized a tiny planet as my second planet. I can already see how useless this planet will be in the future and how expensive it is to keep colonizing - which is good in a sense. I don't expect this planet to be invaded so until Dan implements a better means to get rid of these planets I'm thinking of ditching it.
Question is, if I do ditch it, does it set the colonization cost back? IE, would the "third" planet I colonize cost the same as if it were the second?
Thanks.

The colonization/invasion costs are based on your CURRENT number of planets only. The game does not take into account the number of planets you have owned during the course of the game.
So if someone invaded one your planets, it would actually cost you less to colonise a new planet that it would have to colonise that same planet before the invasion.
