 I have four already and just earned a 5th. Do I have to just scrap it or is there anything else I can do?

You can save it for a spare. If one you has breaks then you can just replace it instead of fixing it and using your creds on it. I have up to 10 spares on NPC items. I keep selling them once I get to many but I save some because I get them to fast. You will get many more repeats as well. That is why one of the guys here suggested using them to get tokens, to upgrade things.
