In order to ensure the success of this mission, we've programmed and prepared a guide that will accompany you: VARA. She is familiar with the Ventar, and will assist your crew with backchannel comms, navigation, and tracking.

Hello.
VARA: Virtual Anomaly Research Assistant. My primary function is to help your ship's systems compensate for irregularities it will encounter during this mission.
Nice to meet you VARA. I understand you'll also help with comms?
VARA: I will continually send feedback through the spacial marker network. Tiny amounts of data may be transmittable, and I can act as an intermediate for communication purposes to those outside the expanse.
Excellent.
VARA: This capability will require a small interface change to your ship. It will allow me to establish a direct interlink between the markers and your comms.
No problem. I'll have my engineers work with you directly on the necessary changes.
VARA: Even with the interface, however, communication will not always be possible.
