A group of <Your_race> extremists have defected and joined forces with the Hallows Bane. We believe the Bane may be using some kind of device to influence various factions within the government.
Their tactics are evolving.
What makes you think the Hallows Bane are using a device?
Most of the ships that were affected reported approaching and engaging an oddly shaped sphere of Bane origin. We're sure that they are the culprit.
What do we know about them so far?
Not much. Its broadcasting signal is very complex. Try to find and capture as many as you can - we need to develop a countermeasure.
Can the signals be detected and tracked?
Only at close range. The Hallows Bane appear to be careful when placing them.
I imagine that our ship will also be susceptible to their influence?
That is a risk, yes... but we cannot wait... and I don't see any other alternative.

Per Round Risks: During this mission, your ship may come under the control of the bane, resulting in a Psybeacon Control effect, which decreases your npc attack by 40% for 30 minutes. This effect can not be removed by a Containment Cage.
