Daily Mission Briefing

chuhn-return2.jpg

We return again. Shifted in time. Again. I'm afraid our efforts to establish consistent Ansible communications here were more difficult than we anticipated. Still, we trade... with much more to discuss...

Mission Dialog:

Chuhn: I am afraid the time disturbances are too intense for the ansibles to be used as we planned.
These incursions seem worse than before

It is still one event, branching to others. One primary incursion. The fluctuations ripple stronger at this point in the cycle. Greatly unfortunate considering our patterns of trade.
This is still a result of Bahreen influence ?

Yes... but they have changed something. Shifted course. Redirected their energy flows.
How can you tell ?

Though we do not have access to timelines as they do, our extragalactic reach allows us to see patterns in their loops that intersect with this one. It is necessary that we keep a close eye on them.
Any insights ?

The Bahreen appear to be entering an Era of new conflict across a great span of space... with some entity we are not familiar with. Much of the timeshift starts here... in this Galaxy... as usual.
What next ? Can our Ansibles be modified to deal with the temporal interference ?

We have a different idea. A technology from others in a very distant galaxy from here ones that we prefer not to trade with normally.
What kind of technology ?

A time stabilizer. The Vaash live in a region plagued by unpredictable temporal anomalies. We traded for such devices on our last visit, thinking we may try employing them here.
Wait... the Vaash ??!

Yes, yes. The Vaash. Not great friends of ours. But... despite our lack of trust with them, the technology is still quite remarkable. A deal had to be made
How do these Vaash devices work ?

They are set up in a large grid pattern. Helps reduce temporal wake effects from strong sources.
Like these incursions ?

We believe so. Never tested such a scenario in this way, but worth an attempt. It would help compensate for some of the problems we face traveling here next round.
And you need our assistance to set up this... grid ?

Yes. You seem to know your way around this Galaxy much better than even our routes have surveyed.
So these stabilizers will just... hover around ? Like huge pylons ?

That is the idea. The Vaash indicated that they will eventually fail. They are programmed to consolidate into an area for salvage if they malfunction... but that should not happen for many, many lifetimes.
Alright. But I am going to take a closer look at their programming with our interfaces.

If all goes well, we will be back to nominal, and our trade routes here will be more lucrative than ever... free of temporal disruptions.
At least while these stabilizers remain in place.

I was assured of their quality. The Vaash use them extensively in their own regions of space.
How did the Vaash become so powerful in their realms ?

They have a technology that allows them to create... to control... P-Space. Pocket worlds and the like.
Pocket worlds ?

They can create smaller versions of realities. Intricate simulations. They use the technology to help predict a variety of outcomes. Though the tech is unstable, it proves quite useful in their plans.
