Player Abilities

Abilities are gained automatically by choosing a certain race, or through the use of special artifacts which bestow the ability.

Abilities are usually accessed through an abilities button on the ship's tab or the planets tab, or enemies tab though in the future abilities may be accessed on the other tabs as well.

Using an ability has an immediate affect, some have an energy cost, and all abilities have a cool-down period before they can be used again. You do NOT have to wait before you use the Ability the FIRST time (except in the case of racial abilities IF you have used one of the other racial abilities and changed races within the cooldown time of the ability of your new race), and the cool down is only active AFTER usage, and once it is expired you can use the ability any time. The Mylari Artifact is effectively a one time usage ability with no cool down period.

Note: While initially All Abilities shared a global timer before they could be used again, they were changed to only use individual timers in the April 2011 Monthly Update. (Taltherian, Mylarai, Kronyn, Genetarr and Zolazin racial abilities still share a single cooldown timer, which your current race determines when you can use the racial again, not the cooldown of the last ability you used.)

Atmospheric Transform

Ability Provided by: Omnispectral Lens and colonizing Prismatic planet
Ability Effect: Permanently boosts a resource (at random) on the planet by 1, up to a maximum of 40x Mega Rich.
Ability Activates From: Primsatic planet tab, ability section
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 20 hours
Cost to Use: 2500 Energy

Clandestine Plot

Ability Provided by: rank 100 Ravyn, Covert Operative ally.
Ability Effect: boosts ship cloaking by an additional 7-15% for 4-8 hours (at random).
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, ability section.
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 20 hours.
Cost to Use: Nothing

Core Access

Ability Provided by: rank 100 Bainar, Systems Cracker ally.
Ability Effect: installs one of 10 Bainar Access Nodes (at random) on a planet
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, ability section.
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 40 hours.
Cost to Use: 500 Energy

Dark Aperture-Key

Ability Provided by: Dark Aperture-Key
Ability Image: Ability Image
Ability Effect: Reduces your trade tariff cost by half (ie 20% to 10%) for 1 hour.
Ability Description: Opens a portal to the Dark Rootnode, the main black market used by the Dark Smuggler Guild. Reduces your trade tariff cost by half (ie 20% to 10%) for 1 hour.
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, ability section
Ability Duration of Effect: 1 hour
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 12 hours
Cost to Use: 50 Energy

Deep-Phase Probe

Ability Provided by: Litheor Race
Ability Image: Ability Image
Ability Effect: Launches a Litheor Deep-Phase Probe permanently into the planet. The Probe becomes a planet structure with the following stats: Size 1. +2 Artifact/Mining/Research, +900 Pop, +150 Cloak. Limit 2 per planet.
Ability Duration of Effect: Permanent (ability creates a building on the planet of your choice)

Elite Trace

Ability Provided by: rank 100 Trovar Zane, Elite Tracer ally.
Ability Effect: +5% scan boost
Ability Duration of Effect: 1 hour
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, ability section.
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 20 hours.
Cost to Use: 250 Energy

Enrich

Ability Provided by: Mylarai Race
Ability Effect: Permanently increases the mining output of a planet by 1 level (+25%), up to a maximum of 15x Mega Rich. No restrictions on target planet type. Requires 200 energy to activate.
Ability Activates From: Planet tab, ability section
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 40 hours
Cost to Use: 200 Energy

Erudition

Ability Provided by: Kronyn Race
Ability Effect: Permanently increases the research output of a planet by 1 level (+25%), up to a maximum of 15x Mega Rich. No restrictions on target planet type. Requires 200 energy to activate.
Ability Activates From: Planet tab, ability section
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 40 hours
Cost to Use: 200 Energy

Luminous Sub-Frequency Lens

Ability Provided by: Bahreen Race
Ability Effect: Transforms a Barren, Desert, Metallic, Icy, Terra, or Toxic planet into a Luminous world, enhancing its size by 1 and all resources by 3 in the process.
Ability Activates From: Planet tab, ability section
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 40 hours
Cost to Use: 15 Prismodyne Energy

Mind Influence

Ability Provided by: Genetarr Race.
Ability Effect: -50% NPC Attack (any NPC)
Ability Activates From: NPC Enemy Actions Tab.
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 30 Minutes.
Cost to Use: 0 Energy

Mercenary Call

Ability Provided by: rank 100 Vortov, Hired Mercenary ally
Ability Effect: Reveals a bountied criminal (at random) to your battle list. Spawns a special Bralkir Clan NPC.
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, ability section
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 40 hours
Cost to Use: Nothing

NFX-2 Virus

Ability Provided by: NFX-2 Integration
Ability Effect: Debuff NPC -10% defense
Ability Activates From: NPC tab, ability section
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 4 hours
Cost to Use: Nothing

The Oruas Eye

Ability Provided by: rank 100 Oruas Eye ally
Ability Effect: Reveals one of many visions that influences your future. (full list)
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, abilities section (Module Ability)
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 40 hours + end of previous vision (whichever is later)
Cost to Use: 500 Energy

Oruas Eye Deeper Bond

Ability Provided by: rank 100 Oruas Eye ally
Ability Effect: Resets the cooldown for The Oruas Eye ability, adds 1 Corruption to ship cargo (500 cargo space, empty market, unscrappable)
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, abilities section (Player Ability)

Prismatic Domain

Ability Provided by: Prismatic Transcendance
Ability Effect: Recruits a group of government officials to one of your other planets at random.

Sabotage

Ability Provided by: Zolazin 'Saboteur' Profession.
Ability Effect: Destroys one standard defense, attack or population structure at random on an enemy planet. The planet must recently be attacked with 100 or fewer population.(Has no effect on 'Unique' Structures.)
Ability Activates From: Enemy Planet Actions Tab.
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 8 Hours.
Cost to Use: 10 Energy

Scruuge Tribute

Ability Provided by: rank 100 Thraccti, Scruuge Defector ally.
Ability Effect: Provides one of 4 Tribute Gifts: Ancients, Elements, Stars, and Void
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, ability section.
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 40 hours for Thraccti up to Thraccti VI, 36 hours for Thraccti V, 32 hours for Thraccti VI
Cost to Use: 400 energy for Thraccti, 250 for Thraccti II, 150 for Thraccti III, and 100 for Thraccti IV

Tactical Remodulation

Ability Provided by: Exotic Tactical Algorithm
Ability Effect: Removes all NPCs from your battle tab slots, EXCEPT ones you have already shared with your legion. (You do not gain any XP from ships removed this way.)
Ability Activates From: NPC Enemy Actions Tab.
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 8 hours.
Cost to Use: no energy required

Transcendent Focus

Ability Provided by: Transcendent Entity
Ability Effect: Grants a special artifact(at random).
Ability Activates From: Ship tab, ability section.
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 50 hours.
Cost to Use: 2,500 Exotic Matter

Trellith Influence

Ability Provided by: Trellith Binding Catalyst
Ability Image: Ability Image
Ability Effect: boosts the production of a type of your choice by 30% on a planet of your choice for three days.
Ability Description: Uses the energy of the Trellith Symbiont to empower the planet,boosting the production of a type of your choice by 30%. This event lasts for 3 days. Ability Activates From: Planet tab, ability section
Ability Duration of Effect: 72 hours
Ability Cool-Down Timer: 24 hours
Cost to Use: 10 Energy

Uldrinan Quota

Ability Provided by: Uldrinan Race
Ability Effect: Issues you a Salary of 2 Uldri Trade Credits which can be used to purchase artifacts from the Uldrinan Market. forum topic

Urbanize

Ability Provided by: Taltherian Race
Ability Effect: Urbanize: Permanently increases the artifact output of a planet by 1 level (+25%), up to a maximum of 15x Mega Rich. No restrictions on target planet type.

Passive Abilities

There are several Medals that unlock "passive abilities", which activate when you perform certain actions, as well as one Mission Module. Information on how to gain most of these abilities can be found on the Medals page.

Arbalest Precision

Ability Provided by: Shattered Darkness medal
Ability Effect: : When receiving a green badge during an invasion, you will earn an additional green badge if the planet is under the effect of a Dark Arbalest VII (or greater)

Bane Treachery

Ability Provided by: A Bag of Heads medal
Ability Effect: : +5% to attack
Ability Activates From: Setting a Hallows Bane Trick

Bane Trickery

Ability Provided by: A Bag of Tricks medal
Ability Effect: : +10% to defense
Ability Activates From: Setting a Hallows Bane Trick
Ability lasts for: 1 hour

Improved Enrich

Ability Provided by: The Enriched
Ability Effect: +20% production to minerals on a planet
Ability Activates From: Using the Mylarai's Enrich ability
Ability lasts for: 40 hours

Improved Mind Influence

Ability Provided by: Mind Over Matter
Ability Effect: When using the Genetarr Mind Influence ability, the target will also be unable to use any of its abilities
Ability Activates From: Using the Genetarr Mind Influence on a NPC
Ability lasts for: 10 minutes

Improved Repair

Ability Provided by: Back on your feet, Soldier
Ability Effect: +10% to a legion members maximum hull
Ability Activates From: repairing a disabled legion members ship
Ability lasts for: 2 hours

Invasion Upgrade

Ability Provided by: The Lone Conqueror
Ability Effect: +50% production bonus on a planet you successfully invade
Ability Activates From: Invading a planet
Ability lasts for: 2 days

Litheor Crystal Focus

Ability Provided by: The Litheor Egress
Ability Effect: +10% production on a planet for two days
Ability Activates From: Using a Terraforming Device with four Litheor Tetractic Crystal devices online
Ability lasts for: 48 hours

Silent Takeover

Ability Provided by: Enveloping Villainy medal
Ability Effect: : +1 green badge
Ability Activates From: invading an inactive-owned planet and getting a green badge
Ability lasts for: n/a
