I suggest that each player be given the option to select a single planet as home world.
Home worlds would have the same attack and defense attributes as high end mission planets.

Since a player's primary planet value is relative, someone who farmed a toxic planet to a massive mega x16 may very well have such as a primary.

Gaming time
involvement to produce such a planet is considerable. The relative damage taken , in this circumstance, is equal to another player loosing a mission Dyson maybe. Which do have invulnerability.

Once a planet would be assigned as Home world, it would have to remain so for duration or until
A new Research Thread in political science :) offers a limited number of options to move the seat of government to another planet using a scheme analog to the Glaviz device.

A Home world could not be sold or exchanged without account ending. One cannot govern an empire without a seat of government.

The option to adopt a planet as Home world should be available after a number of ranks (?) are achieved in order to avoid a clutter of them left by players who do not pursue the campaign.

Sounds like a good idea but maybe down the line when the game gets a bit more complex.

I support the Idea of a home world that would be awesome including not limited too:

Being able to Name your planet, not necessarily adapting a planet from your list but just having a planet similar to your ship that is pretty much fully customizable. with your planet able to level in production and size and be better then all your other planets.

Maybe even legion members and allies being able to visit your home world for trade, visits, etc. open for comments.

since home worlds would be important, why not give these planets the immunity ability as well but alternatively you can 'Raid' the planet in a sense where you can get 5-25% of a random amount of Minerals, RP or Artifacts of the targets income P/H of that resource, or reduce that income by 5-25% for a day.

obviously the mechanics will need working as you can't just click raid and succeed every time, maybe do something like beat down the planet and have the usual invasion formula used.

ships with the protean armory still get their 7% bonus towards raiding a planet but not a badge in this case since it isn't PvP, maybe a new badge colour in this case, Orange maybe?

EDIT-- also, depending on the size of the planet, make it harder ( but not impossible) the larger the planet is to raid

Let me just say first good idea. Well you could tie the home worlds into the mechanics of a base raid but then again they would have to be as strong as bases or better. I am thinking it would be silly to have a home world that would be easily taken by one player. You could even set up a raid claiming first 5-10 players in the raid but not sure one how that would work well. As far as being able to strip minerals, artifacts, and research sounds like a winner. maybe 10-25% percent based on attacker and defense status. I would also claim that Home Worlds buildings could not be destroyed. I think that would be too troublesome.
