if you try to hold on to nice minerals in your cargo for upgrades it might be a good idea to have 1 of everything crappier. I can't tell how well it works because I don't get raided a lot. but the last guy who raided me only got 1 dynite. I don't know if it helps guard artifacts or not.

why not just not keep minerals in your ship?

limited cargo space. It's better to lose 1 dynite than 10 pawlacite.

That maybe and to avoid tariffs. Saving 20% on the component cost of modules and structures might be negligible compared to the risk though.

Another reason not to sell everything - I save up the minerals I use most to build.

I doubt minerals safeguards your artifacts. I have raided successfully before and gotten no minerals, so I assume keeping minerals don't safeguard artifacts. Keeping dynites do safeguard other minerals, but it isn't always true either. It's weighted more towards chance
