Looking at the wiki, it says that the research of an unoccupied gas planet is halved and redistributed into mining and artifact. If say i make the artifact to X20 mega rich and research to X18 mega rich, and then abandon it and use the exchanger , would the resulting planet have 20X + mega rich in arti?

no, you lose any production originaly on the planet to get them set to, rather than added onto the original productions, half the research richness. A very massive gas with 20x artifact, 18x research and 20x mining will still just become a very large clthorian with 3x artifact and 3x mining.

sure try it out and then tell us what others has already complained about having done lol
